Crocheted Trellis Yarn Adjustable Charm Necklace or Wrap Around Bracelet Pattern & Instructions
Crocheted Trellis Yarn Adjustable Charm Necklace or Wrap Around Bracelet Pattern & Instructions
I was inspired by the trendy wrap around leather bracelets (I have seen lots of people wearing), to make a wrap around bracelet with ladder yarn. I used the same technique with the Crocheted Trellis ladder Yarn Multi-Strand necklace pattern to make the bracelet adjustable. After making one, I realized this would make a cute necklace too. And the best part is that its adjustable - make it a choker necklace or wear it full length at about 24 inches. And the bracelet can fit tight or loose, whatever you prefer. Choose the color of ladder yarn you want and your favorite charm.
.
You can also use ribbon yarn (Sao Paulo Ribbon used below) and you don't even have to crochet it. You can use 1 charm like the one above or use multiple charms like the one below. I tied knots in between the round beads to give the charms more space. Use a Beading Needle or fold a thin piece of wire in half to easily thread the ribbon through the round beads.

Supplies:
K Size Crochet Hook
Scissors
Jump ring
3 Stainless Steel Beads - Or bead with Hole size 3mm
2 Jewelry Pliers (Not Pictured - needed to attach the jump ring to the charm)
Step 1
With the Trellis Ladder Yarn Chain 80. Will measure approximately 25 inches without being stretched. Trim the end and pull the end and being tail tight.
Step 2
Thread on 2 beads and move them to the midpoint of the chained piece of yarn. Leave a small space between the beads. (Alternative: You can also attach the jump ring to the charm. Thread on one bead, the charm, then the 2nd bead. I prefer not to do it this way because the opening of the jump ring may get caught on the yarn as you string it on.)
Step 3:
Use the pliers to attach the jump ring to the charm. Make sure the beads and charm are centered correctly on the chained piece. Tie a knot very close on the side of each bead so the stay in place.
Step 4
Slide each end of the chained piece through the opposite sides of the last bead. Tie a knot at each end so that the bead won't slide off.
To wear as a bracelet:
Pull the chain strands through the bead so that it is at its largest size (if its not already). Place the charm and 2 beads on top of your wrist and let the rest of the bracelet hang down below your hand. Twist the bracelet part that is under your hand and put your hand through. Twist one more time and put your hand through. If you want it tighter, pull the strands through the adjustable bead as tight as you want. You will probably need to pull each strand one at a time. You can tuck the remaining strands under your bracelet.
To wear as a necklace:
Pull the chain strands through the bead so that it is at its largest size (if its not already). Slip over your head. Pull the strands through the adjustable bead to make it tighter. You will probably need to pull each strand one at a time.
Please let me know if you have any questions about making the bracelets / necklaces. ENJOY!
